Healthy Hair Coloring Products
There is a lot of contradictory information available about coloring one's hair while pregnant. Some research states that it's not an issue if you stay away from the roots while other research says to avoid it completely during the first trimester and, finally, some research says that you should not be inhaling the chemicals altogether. To work around these limitations, we have put together a list of hair coloring products, with the help of EWG, that are so healthy that you don't have to worry about any of these situations.
Where to Use
We recommend using these products at home so that you will not be exposed to unhealthy products being used on other salon clients.
We use the EWG healthy product search engine to check the overall safety of a product. We try to only recommend products that have an overall EWG Hazard Score of "1" or "2". For the Hazard Chart, we always aim for products with low or absent "Cancer" and "Developmental & reproductive toxicity" levels especially for young children and pregnant women. Following is the list of products that made the cut.
Note: Click on the Hazard Chart of each product to see its full ingredient list.
